Student Council

Student Council will be sponsoring a scavenger hunt this week! Each day, five images depicting boxed candy will be hidden throughout the school. Any student who finds an image should bring it to Mr. Stoneback in room #131 to claim their candy prize. One prize per person per day!"

The varsity boys basketball team beat Calvary Baptist to the score of 70 to 40, leading scorers were Brady Lupcke 20, Garrett Zehr and Braden Slowinski 10 apiece and Zach Laures with 8. Thaddeus Nashatka had 5 rebounds

The JV boys basketball

The JV boys basketball beat Calvary Baptist 62 to 26. Leading scores were Ryan Kowalczyk 13, Marcus Pickett 10 and Blake Kareus 8.

Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteer Opportunity-Mid-Michigan Children's Museum, located in Saginaw, is looking for volunteers to assist with their annual New Year's Eve Countdown Blast Special Event. Three hour shifts are scheduled on December 29 for Set-up and December 30 for the event. Please see details on the Counseling Office Volunteer Hours bulletin board.

Student Council Holiday Sprit Week

Student Council Holiday Sprit Week Will be sponsoring dress-up themes for each day next week. Monday; Christmas Pajama Day! Wear your most festive, pajamas. Tuesday; Ugly Sweater Day, wear your ugliest holiday sweater. Wednesday; Holiday Hats, Socks, and Bells. Thursday; Red and Green Day, wear red and Green from head to toe. See the posters throughout the hallways and our school blog as a reminder for the dress-up themes! Please note that all holiday dress up themes are to be school appropriate.

Krispy Kreme Donuts

The Junior Class is selling Krispy Kreme Donuts in time for the Holidays! Juniors can grab their order sheet from Mr. Thomas Room 109. Donuts are $15 per dozen. Order sheets and money are due December 15th, 2023. Donuts will be delivered to the school December 19th, 2023.

HS Cross Country

Congratulations to the Girls Cross Country team as they raced their way to the finish capturing the Panther invitational championship for the second straight year. All five girls medaled for the Spartans and each played a pivotal role in edging Standish and Tawas for the crown. Kinsie Jacques was the overall winner followed by teammate Ariel Holstine in second place overall. Trista Smerdon was fifth overall followed by medalists Alex Kanthe and Taylor Bauer who played key roles for the Spartans each earning top 20 finishes. Boys team- Taylor Morand ran a tough race finishing in second place overall. Well Done/Congratulations Any student not participating in a fall sport (or wishing to dual sport). Cross Country will take new runners this week only. Please see Coach Penberthy if you feel you want this opportunity. Your chance to become a member of a successful team and get in shape for life or your next winter sport.

Junior Class Shirts

The Junior Class is selling Tee Shirts to represent the Class of 2025! Tee Shirts are $15 per shirt! You can see Mr. Thomas in Room 109.

2023 Year Books

2023 High school yearbooks are in! They can be picked up from Mrs. Wehner in room 120 (multimedia room by the counseling office) before school only starting tomorrow. If you are getting the book for a graduate, please have a note or have them email me giving permission to give you the book.

Fall Athletic Sticker

Fall Athlete Stickers are available for purchase in the Athletic Office during your lunch. Cost is $5 and athletes must have pass to be admitted to fall home sporting events. If you do not show your pass, you must pay to enter.

HS Cross Country

Congratulations to the Cross country team for making it home last night. We Hauled so much hardware we blew 2 tires off the school van. For the girls team Kinsie Jacquies led the charge finishing in first place overall. Ariel Holstine ran a CR performance and finished in second place overall. Trista Smerdon and Alex Kanthe finished 6th and 9th respectively. Tayler Bauer ran a PR and finished in 18th overall. Overall combined scores the girls team finished in second place. Great Job ladies! For the boys team, Tayler Morand also took home a medal with a 7th place finish overall. If anyone is wishing to join a successful team, Cross Country is still accepting athletes,however this opportunity will close next week. See Couach Penberthy or Morand for details.

Volunteer Hours

Looking for Volunteer Hours? You need them to graduate! We are looking for volunteers at our Middle School Football games! Games are September 9, 16, 30 and October 7th. See Mrs. Pomaville if you would like to help out! Please join PHS United Way Club at our first meeting on Wednesday, September 6th in the art room at 3 pm. We will be painting rocks for the United Way Longest table event, so this counts towards community service hours. United Way is a club that focuses on volunteerism and helping our community in need. All PHS students are welcome! See Mrs. Holmes to sign up or for more details!

JV Varsity Volleyball

JV and Varsity Volleyball traveled to Calvary Baptist last night to take on the Lady Kings. JV won all three of their matches. Varsity Volleyball battled in all three of their matches and served at 94% as a team. Jordyn Kowalczyk served 12 for 12 with 1 ace, and Geena Gauthier served 8 for 8 with 1 ace. Come and see the Lady Spartans on Thursday Aug 31st take on Tawas for our first home match!
